Description

The Assistant Airport Manager, under limited supervision, performs high-level administrative work managing, supervising, and coordinating the daily activities and operations of the Lee's Summit Municipal Airport. The Assistant Airport Manager coordinates assigned activities with other divisions, programs, departments, and outside agencies. Provides complex administrative support to the Airport Manager and serves as Acting Manager in the absence of the Airport Manager. As a management representative, supports the mission, vision, strategic plan, goals, and decisions of the department and the City.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Airport Management, Business Administration, or closely related field
Minimum of five years of progressive Airport/FBO experience, Business Aviation, or closely related aviation experience
Three years of management or supervisory experience in Airport/FBO Operations, Business Aviation, or a closely related field is preferred

*Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Knowledge in the field of aviation and business administration
Operational knowledge of a computer, including Microsoft products and point of sale software
Skills in the use of common airport equipment such as aircraft movers, aircraft tow bars, fuel trucks, and stationary fueling equipment, and ground power units (GPU)
Exceptional customer service, time management, problem-solving skills
Ability to understand and learn aviation terminology and its application
Ability to guide, train, direct and motivate employees
Ability to organize and supervise the activities of others
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, suppliers, or the public as needed

Recommends the hiring, advancement, discipline, or discharge of Airport employees. Participates in preparing, administering, and monitoring the division's budget.
