As a remote backend engineer, you'll play a crucial role in powering our websites and mobile apps, bringing Yelp’s reviews and insights to millions of users.

The Services organization plays a vital role in connecting consumers with great home and local service professionals through features like Request a Quote and AI-powered Yelp Assistant. As an engineer on our team, you will have the opportunity to develop innovative solutions that directly impact how we help people find the best businesses for their services needs. In response to the rapid technological advances in the AI space, our Engineering & Product teams have swiftly identified business needs, introducing user-focused AI-powered features, demonstrating our commitment to supporting both consumers and service providers.

This opportunity is fully remote and does not require you to be located in any particular area in Mexico. We welcome applicants from throughout Mexico. What you'll do:

• Collaborate closely with Designers, Product Managers, Data Scientists, and other cross-functional teams to ensure a seamless and engaging user experience.
• Build new features on top of our Service-oriented Architecture.
• Iterate quickly using Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment principles.
• Articulate a technical vision and execute it.
• Help adopt and extend Yelp’s AI-leveraged backend systems
• Give back by mentoring other engineers and sharing the skills you learn.

What it takes to succeed:

• Several years of relevant industry experience.
• In-depth experience with building effective APIs (like REST or GraphQL).
• Relevant experience in at least one server-side programming language.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills demonstrated through effective teamwork across design, product, and engineering teams.
• An eagerness to learn and embrace scalability, reliability, and performance challenges.
