Job Description This is not a remote position. The Health Information Management (HIM) Specialist is primarily responsible for chart analysis, both quantitative and qualitative. This includes reviewing medical records for accuracy and completeness, assigning provider deficiencies, and ensuring timely completion in accordance with regulatory standards. The role involves assisting providers with record completion, validating deficiencies, and collecting data for regulatory reporting and hospital operations. The position requires gathering information from electronic and paper sources and providing office support within the HIM Department. Job Requirements High School Diploma/Equivalency required; college courses or HIM degree preferred Previous experience in a HIM department; hospital experience preferred Experience with electronic medical records, preferably Meditech Analytical skills to review and assess documentation for deficiencies Strong computer skills and willingness to learn various software applications Troubleshooting and technical comprehension skills Knowledge of HIPAA Privacy & Security rules regarding PHI confidentiality Ability to operate office equipment such as scanners, fax machines, photocopiers, and microfiche Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Email, and Internet Excellent verbal and written communication, teamwork, and customer service skills Ability to work independently and in a team environment Detail-oriented with multitasking skills in a fast-paced healthcare setting Flexible, with varying daily assignments based on departmental needs Knowledge of medical terminology preferred Additional Information Seniority level: Entry level Employment type: Full-time Job function: Healthcare Provider Industries: Hospitals and Healthcare This job posting is active.
