Role: Fractional Controller/VP Finance/CFO

Location: Long Island, NY

Industry: Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG)

Employment Type: Part-Time / Fractional

This will be about 80 hours/month and will be on site during working hours.

Our client is a well-established, global CPG company with a strong brand legacy and growing U.S. operations. The U.S. division, based in Long Island, NY, is approximately $50 million in revenues (and growing)—and operates with a nimble, entrepreneurial team.

Opportunity Summary

As part of a strategic initiative, the company is seeking to separate U.S. finance leadership from general management responsibilities. To support this transition, they are hiring a fractional CFO (or alternative title such as Head of Finance, Director/VP of Finance) to lead financial operations and compliance on a part-time, flexible basis.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead preparation of monthly financial reporting packages and MD&A for submission to global headquarters.
• Oversee variance analysis, compliance, and monthly financial commentary.
• Provide mentorship to the finance and accounting team, including interim support.
• Identify and implement improvements to shorten the current 12-day monthly close cycle.
• Support oversight of insurance renewals, trade deductions, and promotional analysis.
• Contribute to accounts receivable, systems enhancements, and reporting optimization.
• Bring hands-on financial leadership to a 30-person, performance-driven U.S. team.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Prior experience as a Director or VP of Finance, or a CFO in a CPG or inventory-driven environment.
• Strong skills in financial reporting, compliance, inventory management, and trade spend analysis.
• Hands-on, resourceful leader comfortable working in a lean, entrepreneurial setting.
• CPA or CMA highly preferred.
• Skilled at mentoring and developing junior finance team members.
• Exposure to IT systems, accounting infrastructure, or systems improvement initiatives is preferred.
