A small CPA practice is looking for a full-time tax preparer/accountant to join our team. This role supports year-round client needs, including tax preparation, bookkeeping, and general accounting. The ideal candidate is experienced in preparing individual and corporate tax returns and comfortable working directly with clients to manage ongoing accounting tasks.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review federal and state tax returns for individuals (1040) and businesses (1120, 1120S, 1065)
• Provide year-round accounting support, including bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, and payroll reporting
• Research tax issues and ensure compliance with current tax laws
• Identify deductions, credits, and tax planning opportunities
• Communicate with clients to gather information and explain findings
• Maintain accurate records and protect the confidentiality of all financial data

Qualifications:

• Experience preparing both individual and corporate/business tax returns
• Strong accounting background with knowledge of GAAP and financial statements
• Proficiency with tax preparation software (e.g., Drake, Lacerte, ProSeries, UltraTax) and Microsoft Excel
• CPA or EA certification preferred but not required
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines
