Data Engineer
Remote (Austin, TX (Preferred) or Dallas, TX (Other locations also considered)

We're seeking highly motivated Data Engineers with strong Python skills, a solid grasp of data structures, and a passion for working with large-scale, complex datasets. Ideal candidates have experience transforming heterogeneous data into clean, unified databases ready for advanced analytics.

Responsibilities
1. Develop and optimize ETL pipelines for structured and unstructured data (APIs, maps, utility websites, web pages, images).
2. Build scripts for web scraping, crawling, and metadata extraction.
3. Use ML and other tools to extract and clean metadata from text and images.
4. Integrate terabytes of geospatial, graph, and time-series data (e.g., electricity grid information).
5. Architect systems to handle evolving network graphs and diverse metadata.
6. Ensure high data quality, validation, monitoring, and schema consistency.
7. Simplify and model complex infrastructure data for analysis and visualization.
8. Build APIs and cached data services for fast, intuitive UI interaction with large datasets.

Skills
Expert in Python (Pandas, NumPy, GeoPandas, NetworkX, Requests).
Proficient in SQL/NoSQL, web scraping, time-series, and graph data.
Familiar with geospatial formats (shapefiles, GeoJSON), Dask or Spark.
Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), CI/CD, version control, and orchestration tools (Airflow/Prefect).
Strong problem-solving and clean, efficient coding practices.
Eagerness to learn and contribute to infrastructure-scale systems.
