Job Description

Primary Purpose:

Perform a variety of dental assisting duties as a trainee to promote quality dental care.

Essential Duties:

Assists the dentist in the administration of treatment at the chair side as required or directed by the dentist and hygienist.

Greets patients, pre-screens and seats patients in treatment room.

Chairside patient education and instruction.

Maintain a sterile and neat working environment according to current infection control policies and procedures.

Disinfect and sterilize instruments

Facilitates referrals

Review the health history and ensures completion of required forms.

Familiarize the patient with the aspects of their dental visit

Stock treatment rooms and maintain clinical supply inventory.

Review daily schedule to set up appropriate trays, labs and instruments.

Pour models, take impressions, mange lab cases

Takes x-rays and utilizes x-ray software

Documents and charts in Dentrix and creates patient appointments

Facilitates language translation for patients.

Provides preventive maintenance of dental equipment

Regular and reliable on-site attendance is required.

Other Duties:

Perform other related duties as assigned

  • Observe safety and security procedures; determine appropriate actions beyond guidelines; report potentially unsafe conditions; use equipment and materials properly.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

Skills/Knowledge:

Basic mathematics skills

Ability to work with people of all ages

Fluency in English and both Cantonese and Mandarin preferred

Education:

High School Diploma (or GED) required

  • Retirement: KPHC has a safe harbor contribution of 3% of employee's annual compensation toward Tax Sheltered Annuity after the employee has completed a calendar year of service. Employees are 100% vested in retirement plan.
  • Life Insurance Policy: KPHC pays 100% for Employee Group Life Insurance and AD&D insurance of a maximum of $50K coverage
  • Flexible Spending Plans: KPHC employees will be able to participate in the FSA plan from the inception of employment.
  • Transportation Benefit: Eligible employees can receive a HOLO bus pass paid by KPHC.
  • Bereavement Leave: Eligible employees receive up to five days of bereavement leave.
  • Jury Duty: KPHC will pay the difference between the employee's regular pay and the payment received for jury duty for maximum of five (5) days.
